This specimen is the Plate Coin in the Rea-Peterson-Karoleff-Kovach Jr. Quarter book on page 96. It is ex. Mike Clark Collection, and is in the lower end of the Condition Census. At the time of the publication of the book this coin was "raw" and was called AU-58+ by the authors. There are only four examples listed for this R-4 die marriage in Mint State grades and five in AU grades, including this coin.
This coin is toned in light silver-gray and gold over lustrous surfaces. Circulation marks are minimal.
