This coin was purchased by me from a long time collector of the Capped Bust Quarters by die marriage. It is well struck and retains much lustre on both sides of the coin. It is toned a light gray in the central areas, with darker gray and blue toning at the peripherals, likely from storage at one time in an old Wayte Raymond coin board.
It is struck from Die State a, with double clash marks above the date and at Star 8 on the Obverse. The reverse is clashed under the right wing, arrowshafts, and above 25C.
Only three examples have been auctioned in over a decade in the PCGS AU58 grade. Te most recent example of 1818 B-20 in P58 was offered by Heritage Auctions in their FUN Sale in January 2015. It realized $4,700.
