This exceptional 1806/5 Draped Bust Quarter Dollar graded PCGS AU58 (CAC) was purchased at the FUN show from a long time Maine dealer who had purchased the Rory Rea Collection of early quarters. It has been off the market since June 2006 when Rory sold his collection en bloc to this dealer.  This Specimen is listed as the 14th highest graded coin for the 1806/5 overdate and for this die marriage in the Rea-Koenings-Haroutunian Cenus in Early Quarter Dollars of the United States Mint 1796 -1838 by Rory R. Rea, Dr. Glenn Peterson, Bradley S.  Karoleff, and John J. Kovach Jr.

This coin is toned an attractive medium gray on both sides, with some blue and darker gold mixed in.  The eye appeal is excellent.  It would be difficult if not impossible to find a more attractive circulated example of this overdate and important type coin.  The high price for an 1806/5 Quarter in PCGS AU58 is the Gardner Specimen which was sold by Heritage Auctions in October 2015 which realized $15,275. CAC Approved.
