Tough R-5+ Die Marriage
Die State a
Die State a
This is a nice circulated example of this very tough R-5+ die marriage. Despite the PCGS VF20 grade, it likely ranks in the top 8 examples known for the die marriage. Interesting and importantly, there are no examples graded by either PCGS or NGC grading higher than this coin as listed in the Rea-Peterson-Karoleff-Kovach Jr. Quarter book! Many examples of this die marriage have problems, and are "raw" or in ANACS or NCS holders. In addition, there are very few auction records for this marriage.
This coin is a nice medium gray color with minimal marks for the grade seen under magnification. Ex. Mike Clark Collection and plated in the Rea-Koenings-Haroutunian Census on page 40 of the Rea-Peterson-Karoleff-Kovach Jr. Quarter book.
