Important LIBEKTY Type
The R in LIBERTY is broken at the top of the obverse of this half dime, making LIBERTY show as LIBEKTY. This coin is struck from the scarce LM-3 die marriage (R-4). There is a cud-like die break noted at the lower left between the date and first star, and beneath the lower curls of Liberty's hair. This marriage is the first use of the obverse die and the third and final use of the reverse die.
This coin ciruclated and has nice eye appeal for the grade. The obverse is toned in a light to medium gray with blue in the fields surrounding Liberty, with lighter gray highlights on the high points. The reverse is toned in medium gray, again with lighter gray on the highlights.
