The Bowers Plate Coin
This is a well above average example and a Condition Census example of this R-4 die marriage. The B-12, BB-120 marriage is often under graded by 5 points due to the way all known examples come struck, with little separation between the drapery and Liberty's shoulder. This example has great eye appeal, and was selected as the plate coin in the second edition of the Bowers book on page 186. Only one Mint State Example is known for this die marriage which likely is the Emanuel Taylor example (from a 1959 Hollinbeck-Kagin FPL sale).
