R-8 (3 Known to Me)
Bowers Plate Coin Second Edition
Late Die State with Massive Break Bisecting the Reverse!
GET A QUOTE ON SIMILAR (THIS ITEM HAS SOLD)

This is another of my favorite early dollars in the Miller Collection. It is an R-8, with three examples known to me. Interestingly, all three known coins are distinctly different die states or stages. This example is struck from the latest die state known, with a massive break bisecting the reverse! This is a beautiful coin for the grade, and is the plate coin in the second edition of the Bowers book. Ex. W. Earl Spies who discovered this die marriage and owned two of the three known examples (it is unknown which of these two is the "Discovery Specimen" for the marriage). Ex. Roland Willasch Collection to Warren Miller. This is the second finest of the three examples known.
