1796 was the first year for the new United States 10C denomination and somehow this specimen was preserved exceptionally well over the last 222 years! This coin has lovely eye appeal, attractive blue, amber, and rose toning over nice and lustrous surfaces.  This example was struck from clashed dies and a the "Cud" at Star 1.

This coin was Lot 1037 in the May 20-22, 1996 The Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr. Collection sale by Bowers & Merena where it was plated in 2X Black & White and 1X Color in he sale catalog.  The consignor was able to pedigree this coin to Eliasberg-Clapp by plate matching, which has been verified also by me.

The last 1796 Dime sold at auction was a PCGS MS63 CAC that realized $42,300 in May 2018. Ex. Eliasberg-Clapp and CAC Approved.
