This is an attractive and well above average Draped Bust, Heraldic Eagle Dollar. It is popular due to the 9 being struck over the 8 in the date combined with the "15 Stars" reverse - most DB, HE Dollars have 13 reverse stars. You can see the points of the two extra stars coming out of the lower part of the first and last clouds which have been enlarged by the engraver to try to cover up the two extra stars.
Both sides are beautifully toned in medium gray and gold, with much surviving lustre in the protected areas on both sides. There are no detractions or rim ticks to the naked eye or with a 5X glass.
